City Guide for Charter Oak, CA

It's hard to imagine when you take a look around today, but prior to the 1960s before Charter Oak, California was swallowed up by the suburbs of east Los Angeles County, it was a small agricultural community consisting primarily of citrus orchards.

Charter Oak, California is an unincorporated community in the San Gabriel Valley of east Los Angeles, often spoken of in the same breath as the cities of Covina (to the west) and San Dimas (to the east) due to its geographical location right at the center of those two towns. Charter Oak's northern border is the City of Glendora and the South Hills -- that may sound funny, but it's correct; the South Hills are on the north end of Charter Oak -- and the Covina Hills to the south. The area considered Charter Oak essentially is one big bedroom community surrounded by Interstate-210 to the north, Interstate-10 to the south, the Orange Freeway to the east and Covina to the west. Yet it's an area that people often notice while looking at a map of Los Angeles due to its proximity to the San Gabriel Canyon and the San Gabriel Dam, which is about a 30-minute drive from the center of Charter Oak. What to keep in mind when looking for apartments with pools in Charter Oak, CA

Finding apartments with a pool in Charter Oak means cooling off from the summer heat, get-togethers, and more exercise. However, there are a few things to consider before signing your next lease.

Ask the property management how long the pool is open each year. Is it seasonal? Does the pool have a heat pump to make it practical to swim beyond summertime? You should also inquire about pool rules, capacity, and if unattended children are permitted. The size of the pool also matters. An oversized apartment complex with a tiny pool could mean crowded summers and frustrations when trying to take a quick dip.

Finding apartments with a pool in Charter Oak could also drive up your rent, but may be worth the trade-off. Assess the overall amenities of the property. Apartments with a pool may look fantastic on the outside, but inside the kitchen could need an upgrade or the bedrooms could prove smaller than you want.

Once you find the apartment of your dreams, enjoy an afternoon swim and get to know your new neighbors.
