1808 Addison Street

This is a very nice apartment for a single individual in downtown Berkeley. It is comfortable and has a very good kitchen with a gas stove and oven as well as a full refrigerator. It comes fully furnished, which is nice if you have just moved here. The primary downside is that it is small, but for someone living by themselves it is manageable and has everything that someone needs. Based on my own searching in the area when I moved here 7 months ago for apartments of this type, the cost is very reasonable and the landlord is a very reasonable man who lived in the house for many years before renting this apartment.

It is literally 5 minutes from the Downtown Berkeley BART stop and there is a Trader Joes two blocks away for grocery shopping. The police station is 50 meters away and the neighborhood is safe and very quiet with families living on all sides. I am a post doctoral researcher working at Berkeley Lab and it works perfectly for me and would recommend it highly for a young, single individual.

I would have continued living in this apartment for my time at Berkeley, but am moving to Switzerland and am helping the landlord find a suitable replacement with the same lifestyle (not necessarily profession, or course) as me.

I am scheduled to leave on March 1, but this is flexible and if you are looking for something ASAP, I am willing to move out early to accomodate. Otherwise, we can find a suitable intermediate date.
