Overview
This city is hometown to Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, Al Green and blues legend, Albert King. And of course, rapper T.I. did time there. Two out of three isn't so bad.

This city is hometown to Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, Al Green and blues legend, Albert King. And of course, rapper T.I. did time there. Two out of three isn't so bad.
The town is named after Nathan Bedford Forrest, not a musical legend, but a general in the Confederate Army. Post-Civil War, he used the area as a campsite while working with crews building railroad to connect the cities of Little Rock and Memphis. The Delta town of Forrest City, Arkansas has rich natural surroundings and is scenically situated on Crowley's Ridge. The ridge is a phenomenon in itself as it towers over the surrounding flatlands and creates amazing views, from top to bottom. In Forrest City, neighbors can really put some distance between them. That's because the city has a meager population of 15,371 people, per 2010 census data, loosely packed into just over 16 square miles.
Moving to Forrest City
Homes rent for less in Forrest City. When compared to other areas in Arkansas and on a national level, housing costs are lower than average. This lower cost applies to rental properties as well. Finding a rental home may not be too difficult, but start your search early to locate apartments in preferred locations.
A standard rental application requires a credit check, employment history, income information, application fees and a security deposit, usually one month's rent. Have this information ready, along with a list of personal references, before searching for places to rent. It's worth mentioning that your references should be people who will say good things about you. The goal is application approval.
Matching your favorite neighborhood with your wants and needs may be a tad more difficult if you have a furry friend as a roommate. You'll need to talk to each landlord in order to identify communities with pet-friendly apartments.

Living in Forrest City
The Great Outdoors
As expected, Forrest City does have forests, or at least plenty of wooded areas. The Village Creek State Park, one of the largest state parks in Arkansas, is only a few miles north of the city. It's a fishing, hiking, camping, tennis and golfing paradise.
For another nature-inspired adventure, taking a trip across Crowley's Ridge Parkway gets you a scenic Arkansas view on a higher plane. No kidding. The parkway, being on Crowley's Ridge, is over 100 feet or more above the surrounding terrain, offering one of the best views of the region's beauty.
Golfing, anyone? Residents wanting to get their golfing groove on have access to two country clubs. The Forrest City Country Club and the Ridgecrest Country Club offers reciprocal memberships. In other words, one membership can get you into both places. Athletes or wannabe athletes can take advantage of the city's sports complex and partake in softball, basketball, soccer and baseball. For the health conscience, Forrest City is looking out for you, too!. A wellness center is part of the sports complex and has an indoor walking track and other fitness equipment for rigorous workouts.
Depending on your definition of entertainment, Forrest City has a movie theater and skating rink which could either make for a great Friday night or places to avoid! For those who like to read, there is a public library and library cards are on the cheap.
For slightly different entertainment choices, Forrest City dwellers can journey on over to West Memphis, Arkansas and try their luck at the Southland Greyhound Park. Going further east across the Mississippi River puts thrill seekers in downtown Memphis, Tennessee for dining, dancing and reveling on Beale Street.
There's a price to be paid when living in a small town transportation options are very limited. Pretty much everyone here drives so if you don't have a car you might want to start looking at the Classifieds for cheap ones for sale. But overall, the town has friendly people, little traffic congestion and a down-home atmosphere. If you are considering relocation, you might as well go somewhere like this, that rates well on the friendly, down-home meter.
