Camden was founded in 1824 after the Louisiana Purchase left the United States with much of the land remaining in the Southern U.S. In addition to being a busy steamboat port because of its proximity to the water, Camden is also known for being an oil and lumber town. Currently, Camden has a population just north of 12,100 at the time of the 2010 U.S. Census and is a growing city. Camden is considered one of the most historic towns in Arkansas and is a popular tourist destination.

Camden is a popular city in Arkansas because it offers lots of house for your money. The outlook is good for Camden as the housing market is expected to continue to grow in the next five years, while continuing to offer affordable living options for new residents. Bearden: Considered one of the safest neighborhoods in the city, Bearden is a friendly community. Many of the homes are newer, having been built post-1990.
Maul Road: A popular suburban neighborhood in Camden, Maul Road is dominated by historic and charming older homes that have been nicely maintained.
Living in Camden
Residents of Camden live in a pretty walkable city. Anyone living in the City Center neighborhood will find it easy and enjoyable to walk to Schwan Food Co. for groceries, Club Ice for a drink or It's Fashion for shopping. Be sure to take advantage of the Riverwalk Amphitheater in Camden to watch outdoor movies along the river.
Each year Camden holds two major events. In the spring don't miss the annual Daffodil Festival and in fall is the BPW Barn Sale, now the largest arts and craft fair in South Arkansas.
