Director of FP&A

As Director of FP&A at Apartment List, you will work in a high energy team building finance partnerships across the organization.  We provide analysis to support and drive operational and strategic decision making, report to the Board, CEO and COO on financial and operational metrics and help manage investor relationships. We also manage the key financial processes around planning, forecasting, reporting and measuring the organization’s financial performance. This is a great opportunity to help drive the FP&A function forward at a rapidly growing company and will involve regular interaction with the C-Suite and other leaders in the company. Forecasting a hyper-growth business is hard so we are seeking a highly motivated professional with exceptional analytical skills to join us as Director of FP&A. With unique visibility into the business, you will be able to reach insights others might not be able to make and then turn these insights into initiatives and strategic decisions. This will be a very hands-on role reporting to the VP of Finance and will lead the company’s planning, forecasting and investor reporting. Who You Are

  • You have a BS/BA in Finance, Accounting, Economics or similar with a minimum of 7 years in Banking and/or Corporate finance/operational FP&A at either a high-growth company or a large, well-established organization
  • Your Excel skills are elite, best practices are second-nature and your models are efficient, scalable, and intuitive
  • You have a great head for numbers but also excellent communication and people skills - Apartment List’s biggest strength is its people
  • You enjoy relationship-building and interacting with senior leaders, peers and business partners to accomplish goals and drive the business forward
  • You’re a self-starter, who takes the initiative, is dedicated and enjoys setting and driving toward goals
  • Your attention to detail (with swift execution) is excellent
  • You have coached, mentored or developed individuals before and would relish the opportunity to do so again
  • You have some experience in the tech world; marketplace experience would be ideal but not required
  • You may have an MBA, CFA or CPA but not required

What You'll Do

  • Drive financial planning related to revenue and costs, budgeting, forecasting and long-range planning
  • Build models from scratch, improve existing models and break complex models down into components that consolidate
  • Apply business judgment and financial insights to assist with decision making; then take the next step to operationalize the insight
  • Build strong business partnerships with leaders of all levels and functions within several functional groups
  • Be the point person on Board reporting and help with investor relations
  • Ad hoc projects, modeling, and sensitivity analysis for the Board, C-Suite and their teams
