City Guide for Weston, WI

It's called Weston, and lies on the east side of the Wausau, Wisconsin metro area. Until 1905 it included Rib Mountain, which is to the west. It was called Eau Claire from 1856 until 1859, when the name was changed to Weston. Ironically, the present-day town of Eau Claire is about an hour's drive west.

The wooded plain where the Eau Claire River meets and flows into the Wisconsin River is where the suburbs of Wausau meet the open farmland and forest plots that are distinctive to this part of the Midwest. Here's where you will find the Village of Weston, with lots of green space, developed neighborhoods with a nice mix of housing, light industrial, and retail establishments. It's a land of continental weather extremes and all-American fun. From playing on the river to enjoying a great barbecue with friends or family, it's classic Americana. Just grab some apple pie or a hot dog and watch a baseball game! See more

What to keep in mind when looking for dog friendly apartments in Weston, WI

Finding an apartment in Weston that accepts your pet may not be easy, but it’s very possible. Keep in mind, most of the time you’ll have to pay a premium for bringing your dog along in your new apartment. Some apartments require you to pay monthly pet rent, others will ask for a non-refundable pet fee or a refundable pet deposit.

While landlords and property management companies have varying pet policies, most of them limit the number of dogs you can bring to your apartment and include breed and weight restrictions.

If your pet falls under some of the restrictions outlined in the pet policy, it’s still worth asking the landlord if they can make an exception for your dog. Preparing a pet resume ahead of time could help you build the case for your furry friend. Make sure to include information on behavioral training your dog went through over the years and proof of vaccinations. If you can, include references from your former landlord and/or neighbors.
