Honey Weiss is not the only drink that originates from the small town located in northwestern Wisconsin. You can also purchase Chippewa Falls bottled water, which comes from the Chippewa Spring and is available to consumers in greater Wisconsin and the Midwest. The original spring, which was discovered by an early settler more than 300 years ago, remains in a spring house while a contemporary water plant is just across the street in Chippewa Falls and continues to make delicious, natural water. In the middle of winter, all of that free-flowing water becomes snow and ice, which offers fishing, sledding, snowmobiling and other activities that you just won't find south of the Mason-Dixon line.
The Chippewa River cuts right through Chippewa falls before the river leads to Lake Wissota, which borders the town to the east. With access to several major highways, an interstate highway and a railway system that connects the town to the rest of the state, Chippewa Falls remains connected to the surrounding area. A short way to the south, you'll find Eau Claire, a larger city, and you can hop on Interstate 29 and head to the west to cross the Mississippi River into Minnesota and enjoy a long weekend full of music, shopping, dining and nightlife in the Twin Cities.
Moving to Chippewa Falls
Chippewa Falls boasts the small-town feel that many people have come to know and love. There's a yearly fair that takes place on the fairgrounds, and downtown Bridge Street runs past historic buildings that have been restored to their former glory. The town's original high school boasts high columns in front, and it is now used as a public arts centers where residents and visitors can spend a leisurely afternoon. The dedication to preserving the area's architecture and culture leads to plenty of unique rental apartments in Chippewa Falls. You can also find some some historic city apartments that have been updated in a way that modern properties just can't beat. You might be surprised with every Chippewa Falls has to offer when you're looking for 2 bedroom apartment for rent.
Just as Chippewa Falls celebrates its traditional history and architecture, landlords here are pretty traditional in their tenant wish list, too. Once you find your ideal rental property --whether it's a converted 1910 flat or a newer construction rent to own house --the landlord will like want to see the usual things, like a good job history, solid rental references and enough cash on hand to pay for things like security deposits and first (and often also last) month's rent as well.
New to the Neighborhoods?
Just like the river divides the town, Chippewa Falls is split into several different neighborhoods despite the city's small stature. The City Center between Canal Street and Highway 53 is nearby the local high school and several eateries and convenience stories. Toward the southeast part of Chippewa Falls lies the Timber Terrace Golf Course, where you can search for houses and condos for rent. If you're more of a fan of a cold brewski than you are swinging a golf club, consider living toward north central Chippewa Falls, where the brewery is located. Toward the northwest, closer to highway 53, you'll the area becomes a little more rural, and it's incredibly safe to boot. You won't be in the thick of Chippewa Falls' downtown area. However, you can follow 124 north past the brewery and toward Irvine Park and Zoo, which is one of the area's attractions. In fact, Chippewa Falls is dotted with parks and other areas, especially if you break out from the city limits to nearby Wissota, which is just across the lake from Chippewa Falls. Nevertheless, you'll find the community is generally inviting and there isn't a lot of divisiveness in general, which is great if you want to live someplace where everyone knows your name.
