Now considered a suburb of Dallas, Terrell is located a little over 30 miles southeast of the larger city. What is there to do in Terrell? Well, the primary benefit of the city is obviously its proximity to Dallas. During the summer you’ll find plenty of outdoor recreation in the surrounding area’s many lakes and parks.

As far as shopping and entertainment goes, local attractions are a bit scant. The city is home to the Tanger Outlets, so if you’re into discount shopping you’ll find plenty here. There are a few locally owned restaurants and shops throughout the quaint downtown and surrounding neighborhoods, as well as the typical larger box stores out in the more suburban areas. If all else fails, you’re about a 40-minute drive (traffic permitting) from Dallas.

Unfortunately, Terrell has a less than stellar safety rating, so you need to be careful when selecting apartment rentals. There are plenty of great, safe, and highly desirable neighborhoods in town, and these areas are easy to spot once you've arrived to check things out for yourself.

The downtown and surrounding area is full of great, old Victorian homes. Though houses in this area are mostly owner-occupied, you can occasionally find charming rental homes or duplexes with tons of character in this area. Two bedrooms here range from $600 to $800.

The rest of Terrell’s urban neighborhoods are really hit or miss. In general, you’ll want to find a rental located in the more rural feeling area to the south or suburban area to the northwest. The good news is that there are some decent rentals in this area, offering everything from studio apartments to three bedrooms. Prices in this area range from $500 to $750.

Terrell’s population boom has slowed down a bit in recent years. Because of this, many new homeowners are having trouble reselling their homes and are renting or leasing them at incredibly low prices. This is great news for you, as these homes are a steal, and you can frequently negotiate a short term lease.

Overall, you shouldn’t have too much trouble finding a pet friendly rental in Terrell. While some landlords and management companies may require an additional pet deposit, the city is generally both cat and dog friendly.
