What locals are saying

"I'm always going to live in Texas. Texas is my home -- it'll be my home forever." -- Kelly Clarkson

Does the idea of living in a small waterfront town appeal to you? Do you like fishing, swimming, sailing and sunning? Wouldn't it be nice to live and work in a place that feels like you are on vacation every day? If you answered yes to any of these questions, Port Lavaca, Texas, may just be the place for you! Port Lavaca was originally known as simply Lavaca. It is the county seat of Calhoun County and the name La Vaca means "the cow". Port Lavaca has a rich historical heritage including a period in the late 1800s when it basically became a ghost town with less than 100 people. In the early 1900s new roads, causeway completion and harbor dredging led to the introduction of new industries in the area, including Union Carbide, DuPont and Formosa. With the coming of these companies also came droves of people, and it's about time you joined them, too.

Located on the gulf coast of Texas, Port Lavaca is a small town that has everything you need from work to relaxation
