Savannah is in Hardin County, Tennessee, with a population of about 7,000. It sits smack in the middle of the county and is home to many historically significant spots like the Cherry Family Mansion, which General Ulysses S. Grant commandeered for use as a headquarters during the Battle of Shiloh in Hardin. Savannah recently beefed up tourism efforts to draw more people into town. There's nearly perfect weather year-round (average annual temperature of 62 degrees) and there are interesting places to visit, like the Trail of Tears routes and the beautiful Tennessee River.

What You'll Need
If you're coming to Savannah to rent an apartment, you won't have to worry about the time of year too much. The weather is pretty mild year-round (though summers can get a bit sticky and hot), and there are a fair amount of apartments available throughout the course of the year. Schedule a bunch of appointments with different landlords to make sure you get to see a smattering of different apartments. When you meet with each prospective landlord, bring along all the right paperwork so you can get the ball rolling if you find a place you love. You'll need a copy of your ID, your bank statements, credit report, pay stubs, letter of employment pretty much just a slew of things to prove you have money and an income and won't bail on the rent. Oh bring your checkbook your landlord to be will be impressed with your conviction when you slap down a check for the deposit.
Neighborhoods
Savannah takes up only 5.7 square miles on the map, but it packs a lot into this tiny area. Here's some info about the different sections and what to expect from each:
West Savannah: On the west side of Savannah is the gorgeous Tennessee River, which curves up and around the edge of town. Here is where you'll find the Savannah Historic Trail and Riverwalk, as well as Cherry Mansion. There's a beautiful river park where people gather to picnic and hear live music, and you can always take advantage of the fishing and boating options. The main transportation vein, I-64, runs through here, so it's easy to hop on and get in and out of town when you need to.
East Savannah: The eastern part of Savannah is more peaceful than its western counterpart is. You'll find a lot of subdivisions and lovely tree-lined streets along with a few small parks and mostly residential living instead of commercial buildings or tourist attractions.
Living in Savannah
The biggest park in the city is Riverside City Park and it's right on the Tennessee River.
When it comes to food, Savannah has more than you can put on your plate. Uptown Restaurant offers delicious American food such as an apple salad and a shrimp scampi. Hickory Pit is loved for their pulled pork and ribs can't go wrong here. Stop by Hardee's for a burger and Fish Hut for some seafood.
