Marion is the county seat of the County of McDowell in North Carolina. It was built near Buck Creek, on the land around the historic Carson House in 1844. The town was named for the American Revolutionary War Hero, Brigadier General Francis Marion. The Brigadier General was nicknamed the "Swamp Fox" because of his unique tactics in guerrilla warfare during service with the South Carolina militia and the Continental Army. The Mel Gibson character in the movie the Patriot was based upon his life. The picturesque little town has grown to a population of 8,075, allowing it to maintain its quaint small-town feel of years gone by. The city of Marion is a gateway between Interstate 40 and many of the fabulous natural wonders and attractions in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

As the town grew over the years, newer sections were developed around the historic city center. The main street, made up of eleven structures has been listed on the National Register of Historical Places. The oldest building in the area is the Eagle Hotel, which is one of the few buildings that survived the Big Fire of 1894. Along main street you will also find plenty of great places to eat. From mouth watering BBQ ribs to authentic Mexican cuisine, there is something to tempt every palate. And as with everything else in Marion, the prices are very reasonable. East Court Street is one of the main hubs of town and here you'll find all kinds of shops and restaurants, like Titan PIzza and the Jug Sub Shop. The Marion Community Building Park is one of the loveliest places in the city!

Most of the apartment buildings have 1, 2 and 3 bedroom units and internet connections. Of course, residents have to pay for the internet service itself, but the units are pre-wired for service, making it quick and easy to get connected. You have to see it for yourself in order to make the right choice for your needs.
