Braidwood has a long mining history, but today it feels like any other suburban town you might find in the Midwest. It has parks, like the Braidwood Dunes and Savanna Nature Preserve, and it has amenities like the pharmacy, restaurants stores, etc. mentioned above. Some of residents' favorite dining spots in town include Polka-Dot-Drive In, an old fashioned drive-in restaurant; Raceway Pizza, a pizza joint serving up thin crust pies (a novelty in the Chicago area!); and Gold Mine Restaurant, a classic diner serving breakfast all day long. There's plenty to keep residents entertained here, but if they ever get bored, they can head on in to Chicago. That world class city is only 60 miles away, and a straight and easy drive.
