Easley is a small city in South Carolina that is located in both Pickens County and Anderson County. Founded in 1791 as Rockville, modern Easley is home to nearly 20,000 people. This is a city incorporated together from the two historical towns of Pickensville and Easley, the latter winning the final title due to its local railway and growing population. When the two towns' borders met as of the latter part of the 19th century, Pickensville became nothing more than a small neighborhood within the larger town.
Moving to Easley
Despite the lower overall price for rental homes in the center of Easley, this city is more expensive than at least half of the other towns and cities in South Carolina. Throughout Easley, the cost of living is a little expensive, but you can save a little bit of money when it comes to utilities.
If you're keen on moving here for a nice small-town vibe with all your amenities taken care of, you'll need to set up an account with an electricity provider, such as Easley Combined Utilities, which provides energy and water access to residents of the city. The City of Easley will set you up with trash pickup, you'll just have to register with them once you've moved into your new apartment or house. Advanced Satellite will hook you up with cable, and you can choose from plenty of local companies that are able to connect you to the internet.
Rental homes in Easley are generally mid-sized, with 2-4 bedrooms. If you are on an apartment search, you'll have your choice of studio apartments for rent, one bedroom and two bedroom apartments and month to month rentals throughout Easley. Many of the houses and apartment buildings in this city are relatively new, or at least very well maintained and attractive. If you want to buy a house here, you're sure to find something pretty with a big, green lawn -- another rung up on the ladder that is the American dream!
Neighborhoods in Easley
There are 10 neighborhoods in this small city: Powdersville, Crestview, Hale, Crosswell, Pickensville, Dacusville, City Center, Arial and Glenwood. Home values in Powdersville, Crestview and Hale are the highest, while Glenwood, Arial and the City Center have more affordable homeownership and rental options for new residents. Crestview, City Center and Glenwood are all contained without other outlying neighborhoods, making these the smallest but most densely-populated and built-up areas of Easley. That said, the entire city is very green and tree-covered!
Life in Easley
If you're talking about the northern part of the city, or the southern part, it's pretty empty and lame in regards to food. Along Highway 93 and Highway 123 in the center of town, however, there are all kinds of restaurants set up to appease the daily commuter! Easley residents are pretty lucky that these two major highways run through their town, or they might get stuck cooking every single night of the week. As it stands, however, people who live here can dine out on anything from pizza to pancakes to sushi and BBQ. Excellent!
Hankering for a steak? The LongHorn Steakhouse and Golden Corral have you covered. Craving breakfast all day? IHOP is just down the street. Seafood? Silver Bay Seafood has hush puppies, crab cakes and all you can eat! Fast food fan? Have all the Subway, Sonic and Burger King you want! And let's not forget about the many pizzerias and pasta houses, either! From Michael's Pizzeria to Fratelli's Pizza and Pasta, you'll get your fill.
Got a yen for Asian food? Great! Try out Dozo Sushi and Hibachi, the Grand China Buffet or Jin Jin Chinese Restaurant. Move here, and never go hungry again!
Are you into white-collar aristocratic sports? Come on down to the Smithfields Country Club for a round of two of golf! The on-site pro shop will set you up with everything you need to get started. Want to try your hand at disc golf? Easley is set up for that too! If golf and its cousin don't appeal to you, Pickens County Shooting Range is just west of town, and open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
If you prefer to stay away from firearms, frisbees and golf clubs, you can enjoy some time well-spent in one of the many parks. These feature baseball diamonds, soccer fields, playground equipment and basketball courts. Every year the annual Big League World Series of baseball is held for kids 16 to 18, modeled after the Little League World Series for younger players.
