And with a cost of living that is 10% lower than the rest of the nation, it’s safe to say that Stillwater is a great city to score an inexpensive apartment.

And with a cost of living that is 10% lower than the rest of the nation, it’s safe to say that Stillwater is a great city to score an inexpensive apartment.
In 2010, this college town was dubbed the 6th fastest growing small town in the nation. With a population of 48,000 (and growing), we can’t argue. The majority of residents live in Stillwater to attend a little college you may have heard of - Oklahoma State. Considering that the student population is 31,000, one may claim that college kids rule this town.
The Stillwater area is centered on the university, which employs many people and brings in a ton of cultural events to the area. That said, the median age here in Cowboy Country is 24-years old.
The university is the driving force of the city and many of the apartments located near OSU are filled with pride. Some apartment complexes have named themselves after the university mascot. Yes, there is an actual apartment community named Cowboy Town. Apartments near campus can range between $455-$505 for a standard 1 BR apartment. However, for those wanting to live the dorm life off-campus, $250 a month will get you a single bedroom in a 4 BR apartment, complete with a chapel, transit service, fireplace, coffee house, computer lab AND your own bedroom thermostat. It also means good proximity to the most popular locations in the city.
Those looking to live alone can scoop up a 1 BR apartment, in a golf course community such as Links at Stillwater, with unlimited golf privileges, a pool, clubhouse furnishings, tanning beds and so on for the low, low price of $535/month! Looking for a 2 BR in Stillwater? No worries, those are just as inexpensive. In fact, you can nab a 2 BR in a new complex with some utilities paid in the $570-$630 range. The further northeast and southwest you get, the more residential the city becomes.
Deposits start at $200 and can be higher depending on the complex you choose and whether or not you move in with a pet. Speaking of pets, most communities are pet friendly (with a small deposit). Keep in mind that because the area is so college-based, apartment rentals are often on special but can be hard to come by when the semester starts. Once you are settled in, you will enjoy all the culture, sporting events, historical sites and outdoor recreation (walking trails, golf courses) Stillwater has to offer.
