With a size of 8.6 square miles, there are approximately 811 people per square mile, which makes for comfortable living arrangements. It is nice to not be packed in like a sardine!
Being a southern state, the weather in this part of South Carolina is nearly perfect all year long. There may be about three weeks each winter when you may have to put on a jacket, but otherwise this is one of the most comfortable areas in the United States.

Burton, South Carolina is a suburb of Beaufort; however, it is broken into definitive different neighborhoods in the north, south, east, and west.
North: In the north of Burton, you will find the neighborhood of Stuarts Point. The Marine Corps Air Station is located here, so make sure you stand attention when any wingmen fly by town streets.
South: To the south is Shell Point by Parris Island. Visit the Parris Island Museum near old Beaufort for some local history lessons.
East: In the east, the neighborhood is known as Battery Creek and this neighborhood is further broken into smaller neighborhoods, like Wrights Point, Picket Fences (just like the television show), and Battery Shores.
West: The neighborhoods of Laurel Bay and Habersham are located to the west. Located next to the water, this area makes for some wonderful access to the bay.
Living in Burton
Living in Burton is a great time. No, really! There is always a festival or an expo going on to occupy your time. The Gullah Festival in May is a three-day event that hosts plays, music and local tours of the area. In July, the Beaufort Water Festival is a ten-day music showcase with tons of fun for all ages. If you enjoy history, there is a Spring Home Walk usually held in April in which guided tours are given of the many historical homes in the area.
