Kirkwood, Missouri is the home of the annual Greentree Festival.
Kirkwood, Missouri is a few miles outside of St. Louis and really the art capital of the state. You can buy fresh food at the enormous Kirkwood Farmers Market, and the downtown has enough art galleries and boutiques to fit into the artsy towns of New England. If you're not really into that kind of stuff, there are plenty of BBQ restaurants and outdoor activities to keep you busy.
Moving to Kirkwood
What Can I Find Here?
You'll have the easiest time finding 2 or 3 bedroom apartments for rent. There are also a lot of single-family homes, quite a few of them are 4 or 5 bedrooms, but you'll mostly be lookin' at 3 bedroom houses for rent in Kirkwood.
What Do I Need?
If you love Southern cuisine, and really want to move here you're in luck; part of the city is a renters market, the other half is not. Depending on the neighborhood, the vacancy rate is as low as 3 percent, typically in the north. But the vacancy rate on the south side of the city is as high as 12 percent.
So, look over your budget, look at your credit rating, and think very carefully on what you can afford and how much bargaining you want to go through to rent an apartment.
Typically a decent credit report and a short list of references should be enough. If you're in the City Center, which is the most expensive part of the city, you'll need proof of income and a reference from your previous landlord if you want the best possible deal. In the E. Argonne Drive area, having cash should cover you; anything extra will get you nice bonuses like all utilities paid.
What to Do in Kirkland
Tthere are bars and even a nightclub or two. Kirkland has a couple of fairs and year-round entertainment. It also has quite an art crowd. If a night at the theater after a day at the park strikes your fancy, it's fantastic.
