Makua Keaau Forest Reserve: This area makes up the northern part of Makaha. It's mostly dense forest and greenery, so look around here if you like the green trees better than the blue ocean.
Makaha Valley Country Club: The eastern part of Makaha is made up of the Makaha Valley Country Club area. Look around here if you like golf or social activity. There are lovely residential streets and a nice hotel, the Makaha Resort.
Living in Makaha
If you choose to live in Makaha on Oahu, you're choosing not to be in the heart of all the island's action. That's okay though, because with ocean, forest, parks, and small town area, you'll have plenty of stuff to do all year long. Also, you'll be just a short drive from some of the most popular tourist destinations in America, including Pearl Harbor, Waikiki Beach, and the North Shore surfers if you need something to do. Have your own car if you want to get around on a dependable schedule; although, there is a pretty extensive bus system on Oahu if you want to rely on public transportation. If you want to hang around home, you can spend time at the Makaha Valley Country Club or the Makaha Valley resort. Beyond that, your choices for entertainment are limited to the local 7-Eleven, and small nearby restaurants like Gold House Restaurant and Surfah Smoodeez. However, if you're moving to Makaha, you probably know that going into it, since it's a destination for people who are looking for a slow, calm pace of life and a place where they can unwind, relax and escape.
