White City takes up a good part of what is called the Agate Desert, which is not actually a desert at all. Apparently the people who named it didn't understand what a desert was! The Agate Desert is actually a grassy prairie with a large number of natural vernal pools in Southern Oregon's Rogue Valley. Built on the site of a WWII military base, White City is now part of the greater Medford area.
This part of the Beaver State is famous for its pears, wild rivers and hot summers. It's an expansive valley between the Siskiyou Mountains to the south and the foothills near Gold Hill, it's a prime country for those who love the outdoors. White City first grew up almost as an extension of Medford and has come into its own as a Rogue Valley town. Where city meets country and valley meets mountain, the former base and POW camp is home to about 8,000 people. See more
