Carson, CA: Los Angeles Lite
Not too far from the bright lights of Los Angeles, the LA suburb Carson, California is for you. This California city of 91,000 can meet your needs and serve up some seriously good food to boot.
The Del Amo, Links at Victoria and Centerview neighborhoods offer wide streets placed squarely on a hill to enjoy a view and a breeze now and then. Single family homes here will rent for around $1500 for a 3BR up to $2500 for larger 4BR options closer to the golf course. Apartments can be had starting at $1350 for a 1BR to $2200 for a 3BR.
Please tell me I don’t have to take the 405 to work.
One of Carson’s strong suits is decidedly its prime location between LA and Orange counties. Three major highways meet in Carson so traveling through either of these counties, or more importantly for any Californian–to the beach, is easy if you have a car. Both Long Beach and Redondo Beach are extremely close and if the waves are whispering your name, the journey to the water is a short one. A large portion of the population commutes into various LA locations during the week and commute time to downtown LA is around a 30 minutes on a good traffic day–which is hard to come by on the 405. The City of Carson also operates a local bus system, Carson Circuit, with local bus service and connection to neighboring Artesia Transit Center.
